Patrick Phillips

Patrick is a 2009 graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law and joins The Law Offices of Phillips & Associates with experience in personal injury, labor & employment and education law matters.  During law school, Patrick participated extensively in USD’s Special Education Legal Clinic, where he negotiated with school districts to obtain special education services for children with special needs.

Patrick also worked for a well-regarded plaintiffs’ law firm in Santa Monica.  While at the firm, Patrick assisted in litigating numerous multi-million dollar law suits, including a high profile products liability claim against the makers of Children’s Motrin.

Subsequent to his bar admission, Patrick worked as an associate attorney for a law firm in downtown San Diego.  His areas of practice consisted primarily of labor & employment law, education law, and the defense of public entities.  More specifically, Patrick assisted employers across the state of California draft employment agreements, severance packages, retirement benefits packages and drug testing policies.  Patrick also represented K-12 school districts in proceedings to suspend or expel students alleged to have violated school policy or law.

The Law Offices of John W. Phillips became Phillips & Associates in 2011, when Patrick joined the firm full-time.  Since then, Patrick has handled numerous personal injury matters ranging from medical malpractice, product liability, premises liability, and traffic accidents.  He has also advised employers on compliance with a vast array of labor and employment laws and has successfully represented employees on wage claims, discrimination claims, contract disputes, and more.

Patrick has been selected for the past three straight years as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” (2016, 2017, 2018) a designation reserved for the top 2.5% of California licensed attorneys under 40.  He also maintains a 10 out of 10 rating with Avvo, a legal directory service that rates attorneys on the basis of experience, industry recognition, and professional conduct.

Patrick is fluent in French and conversational in Spanish and Russian.
